Ye Olde History Snippets…  every July 1, abolitionist Harriet Beecher Stowe is honored with a feast day (liturgical calendar-Episcopal Church, USA).   Stowe died July 1, 1896.

Harriet Beecher Stowe. a Christian author, she averaged nearly a book a year at the peak of her production, but “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” is her most famous.

last month in a discussion led by ​Gwynn Pealer, the FKPC Book Club studied the 1852 Uncle Tom’s Cabin.  It depicts the harsh conditions experienced by enslaved African Americans.  

Anti-slavery forces in the American North embrased the novel;  it provoked anger in the South.  The book reached an audience of millions and was also presented as a play.
